After the PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana, it is now the turn of Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar to throw his hat into the ring for the coveted Chief Minister’s post.
It is said that Manohar is eyeing for the seat after the party high command sent out clear signals that it could consider change of guard in the state. The Delhi bosses are of the view that no one should be made to feel supreme and it is the high command which must call the shots.
As a result, the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is made to feel like a probationer in the Chief Minister’s post.
Moreover, Botsa has turned out to be a thorn in his flesh. On its part, the central leadership is encouraging the multiple centers of power. Under the present circumstances, Kiran is only the first among the equals. He cannot take his position for granted.
There are many claimants for CM’s post waiting in the wings. They include Botsa, Damodara Raja Narasimha and Chiranjeevi. Now, Manohar also appears to have joined race.
Manohar has an axe to grind with Kiran as the latter had opposed his elevation to the Speaker’s post.
In order to impress the high command, particularly the Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Manohar has been extensively touring the state. His latest initiative is to lead a big team of MLAs and MLCs to tribal areas of Visakhapatnam district.
