Former MLA and Kapu strongman from Vijayawada, Vangaveeti Radhakrishna, is most likely to join the YSR Congress party headed by Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, if the reports from Vijayawada are any indication.
Radha, who had jumped from the Congress into Praja Rajyam Party floated by megastar Chiranjeevi two and a half years ago and rose to become its vice president, was disgruntled at the way the party was merged with the Congress. Radha was not present at the merger function held at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday.
In fact, Radha was contemplating leaving the PRP long ago, but he was persuaded to stay back by Chiranjeevi himself. Since there was a lull in the party activity in Vijayawada, Radha invited Chiranjeevi to a local function not only to rejuvenate the party, but also to boost up his own image. But with Chiranjeevi did not turn up, much to the disgruntlement of Radha. Since then, he has been staying away from the party activities.
Now with the PRP getting merged with the Congress, Radha knew pretty well that there would be no future for him in the Congress. Though he is closer to Kamma leaders like Lagadapati Rajagopal and Galla Aruna Kumari, he is not sure whether they can get him party ticket in the next elections.
Taking advantage of this, the YSR Congress party leaders approached him and invited him into the party. In fact, when YSR was alive, he had invited Radha into the Congress again. Now, he is planning to make use of this occasion to join the Jagan camp, sources said.
