It appears in the Rosaiah government, the law and order situation has turned so worse that even statues require police protection!
Following the attempt by some miscreants (or call them overzealous Telangana activists) to burn the statue of Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu on the Telugu university premises on Friday, the state government ordered deployment of heavy police forces on the tank bund to protect the statues of Telugu personalities erected on the bund. At every statue (of course of the personalities belonging to Andhra region), a police post has been set up with armed reserve constables.
The precaution is being taken in view of the call given by the Telangana students and activists for observing Black Day on November 1, to coincide with the Andhra Pradesh formation day. The government fears the Telangana activists might attack the statues or create troubles on the tank bund as part of their agitation to boycott the formation day celebrations.
Is it not ridiculous for the police to protect statues, rather than the people!
