After a gap of six months, the rumours about Praja Rajyam Partys merger with the Congress are doing rounds in the state political circles again.
According to these rumours, PRP president Chiranjeevi is sending feelers to the Congress leadership both in the state as well as the centre to take a plunge into the Congress party. After making a historic blunder by openly declaring his support to the united Andhra, Chiranjeevi has now realised that he had lost complete base in Telangana and it is extremely difficult to bounce back if the state remains united. And with limited strength in coastal Andhra, he just cannot dream of coming to power at any cost.
His party leaders are now bringing pressure on him to take a decision on merging with the Congress if all of them have to secure their political future. At least if Chiranjeevi merges the PRP with the Congress, he can expect to be in the race for chief minister post in Seemandhra area in future, if Telangana gets separated. In the next four years, he can emerge as a power centre in the Congress in Seemandhra region, they are said to be brainwashing him.
The only problem is that if Chiranjeevi merges the PRP with the Congress, some of its leaders might go back to the Telugu Desam Party. Let it happen, but at least Chiranjeevis future will be secure!
