It is now once again clear that Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has absolutely no guts to take action against JC brothers – Anantapur MP J C Diwakar Reddy and Tadipatri MLA J C Prabhakar Reddy.
It was evident from the way the Naidu government gave clean chit to Diwakar Travels in connection with the gory accident of the company’s bus at Nandigama near Vijayawada in February last, in which 11 people died.
The bus fell into a culvert on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway with the injured passengers getting stuck for over four hours.
Obviously under the instructions from the chief minister, principal secretary of the AP transport department told the high court that Diwakar Travels, owned by the JC brothers, had followed all the provisions of the Motor Transport Workers Act, 1961 and maintained all the safety standards. There is no case against the owners and only the bus driver was booked in the case.
Even with regard to the highhanded behaviour of Diwakar Reddy on the staff of Indigo Airlines at Visakhapatnam on June 16, the government has not initiated any action and allowed him to fly to Europe on a holiday.
There was no action even on behalf of the TDP, though there were leaks by Naidu’s media managers that the chief minister was upset with the MP.
