Lagadapati predicts TRS win, silent on DS

Congress MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal might be an out and out anti-Telangana leader, but he proved himself to be sincere in confessing that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi would win the by-elections in all the 11 assembly constituencies it contested hands down.

Lagadapati, who is known for conducting pre-poll surveys, did the same in the present by-elections as well; and contrary to this anti-Telangana stand, he predicted that the TRS would get landslide victory in 11 assembly constituencies with a thumping majority. The people have reposed their faith in the TRS not because of the Telangana sentiment, but because of its candidates had resigned from their posts as per the commitment given to the people. The elections were fought not on the Telangana plank, because all the parties said they would get Telangana state. It was the question of commitment given to the people, who will elect only those who had resigned, he told the media in Delhi, after the polling ended on Tuesday.

He said the Telugu Desam Party would not get deposit in majority of the seats, whereas the minorities reposed faith in the Congress. Lagadapati, however, was careful in not predicting the victory in Nizamabad urban constituency. I cant tell you about it now. You will come to know about the result on July 30, he said, with a smile on his face. Obviously, he did not want to take risk on predicting the fate of Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas.
