The differences between the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and the PCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana appear to have reached a flashpoint.
Frustrated over Botsa’s encroachment into the administrative territory and his frequent self-flattering public statements, the Chief Minister is believed to have taken up the matter with the Congress bosses in Delhi.
Kiran is understood to have told Congress leaders that Botsa was trying to emerge as a “parallel power Center” and making things difficult for him.
“It may become difficult for me to continue if he becomes a power center and tries to influence the government,” the Chief Minister had told the Congress bosses including Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.
The Chief Minister is also peeved over Botsa’s attempt to nurture his own group in the state Congress and interfere with the functioning of various government departments. His continuance in the twin posts—Transport Minister and the PCC Chief—is also causing irritation to the Chief Minister.
A discrete watch has been kept on Botsa’s engagements, his public speeches and the profile of persons meeting him.
The Chief Minister also wants to break the growing the bond between Botsa and Chiranjeevi who are planning to undertake joint programmes to strengthen the party in coastal Andhra. Both belong to Kapu community, a factor that can turn out to be a thorn in the Chief Minister’s flesh.
