The YSR Congress Party President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy appears to be itching for an electoral showdown. He has challenged the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to dissolve the Assembly and seek a fresh public mandate.
Jagan threw this challenge while participating in a dharna at Kadapa in protest against the power crisis facing the farming sector.
Apparently emboldened by the reports that the Congress government’s image is at its lowest ebb, Jagan dared the government to go for fresh elections.
“Given its failure on all fronts and the growing miseries for common man, the Congress will lose deposits in all the constituencies,” Jagan roared.
Launching a scathing attack on the Kiran Kumar Reddy government, the YSR Congress Party chief said that the farmers and the poor were suffering a lot.
Referring to the deepening power crisis, Jagan said that though the Singareni workers had given a strike notice well in advance the government had failed to take any measures to maintain enough coal stocks to run the thermal power plants.
