Koneru Rajendra Prasad, the kingpin in the multi-crore Emaar Properties housing scandal in Hyderabad, had to pay the price for his arrogant behaviour while facing interrogation from the Central Bureau of Investigation, sources say.
According to sources, Prasad tried to launch a counter attack on the CBI authorities during the interrogation. He reportedly threatened CBI joint director V V Lakshminarayana that he had high-level connections and that the officer would have to face serious consequences if he was fixed in the case.
This reportedly agitated Lakhsminarayana, who is generally a cool and quiet officer. He allegedly slapped Prasad a few times and asked him to behave properly. It was only after this confrontation that the CBI authorities arrested Prasad formally and produced him before the court. They are now not allowing even to escape custody in the name of ill-health.
