A criminal case was filed in Tirupati police station against Tirumala Tirupati Devastham trust board chairman D K Adikesavulu Naidu for giving interest-free loan of Rs 4 crore to a religious institution in Australia.
Local Bharatiya Janata Party leaders filed the case against Adikesavulu, alleging that he had granted the loan to the Hindu Society of Victoria without the approval of the TTD trust board. Granting such a huge amount as loan to an unknown organisation, whose credential are not known is a crime. What is worse, the loan was granted without charging any interest, they said.
The TTD employees staged a dharna in front of the administrative building demanding that the chaiman step down from the post for misusing the temple funds. Adikesavulu suspects that the information was leaked by TTD executive officer I Y R Krishna Rao who was involved in a cold war with the chairman.
