While voting is considered a game of numbers, here is one man who claims to be able to accurately predict the election marksheet, down to the specific number of seats that the poll players will bag. Surprised? Meet numerologist Rachaa Suresh, who stakes his claim at predicting the big win in Andhra Pradesh, using “the ancient technique of numerology”, in his words.
Speaking at a meeting ‘foretelling’ the election result here on Thursday, Suresh, who had earlier predicted Tollywood marriages claimed that the year 2009-10 would prove to be a fruitful one for YSR. “Y S Rajasekhar Reddy’s date of birth, July 8 suggests a high chance of success, since his ‘name value’ and date of birth are both 8, which is considered to be a powerful number,” the numerologist explained, adding that Congress would go on to win 102 seats, closely followed by TDP with 86 seats. “The Praja Rajyam Party is likely to surprise us all by grabbing 52 seats, despite the short time that the party has been around,” muses Suresh, adding that his “analysis is based on the fact that Chiranjeevi’s date of birth is August 22, which, coupled with the fact that August is the eighth month could give the mega star a surprisingly high proportion of support in this year’s elections.” When asked if the numerologist could clarify if indeed there was any scientific backing behind his predictions, Suresh shoots back:
“Firstly, what I provide are not predictions but analyses, similar to conventional scientific disciplines and secondly, if indeed there are skeptics I would request them to foretell the elections accurately.” Probing further however, the numerologist recalls, saying that “no prediction is 100 per cent accurate, including the so-called scientific methods.” Maintaining that the digits of the year 2009 indicates a turbulent electoral aftermath, Suresh further claims that in order to reduce the possibility of violence “the planet Saturn needs to be appeased through ‘Shani puja’ and ceremonies dedicated to the Sun.” The numerologist further claims that KCR’s pink brigade would bring back 18 seats, while the Left Front would get 10 seats.
While such predictions and “analyses” cannot be verified till Saturday’s rollout, ‘supernatural’ claims such as these have surely added the much-needed zing to pre-results anxieties.
